Back from tech week putting the finishing touches on the sound design and original music for this play. Armstrong’s War involves a chance encounter between a plucky 12-year-old girl, a Pathfinder, wheelchair-bound as a result of an accident, and a 21-year old soldier in an Ottawa Rehab Hospital following a tour of duty in Afghanistan. Runs from Nov 11th till Dec 6th at the Citadel Theatre in Toronto.

May 4th

Just heading to Toronto to help build this show. This play features an all recovery cast and will serve as a fund raiser for Renascent, a Toronto-based addiction treatment centre. Runs from May 9th to the 23rd at the Hart House Theatre in Toronto. This is the first time that I've had a chance to write a score for a play that has had music written for it in previous productions. Both the 1958 Playhouse 90 teleplay and the film in 1962 (score by Henry Mancini) had wonderful scores, and are providing me with a great reference to this iconic play.

Below is a nice little promo clip. It features the voice of Kenora's own Michaila Jacobson. I thought it important that the score should include Henry Mancini's iconic tune, and wanted a sad & gentle treatment to begin the play. I think she nailed it…..well done, Missy!!

We have just heard that the Lake of the Woods Mobile Tour has just received an Award of Excellence from the Ontario Museum Association. Museum Director Lori Nelson and I will be traveling to Niagara Falls later in the month to receive the award.

Looking forward to the launch on June 16th of the Mobile Tour at the Lake of the Woods Museum. This was a year long project that involved implementing 12 iPads that will enable patrons to access multi-media content, thus enhancing their museum experience. The content consists of approximately 5 1/2 hours of archival photos, virtual tours and interviews.

My role consisted of shooting/editing the video clips and developing an iPad app that would serve as the tour's interface. In researching the project, I found an open source framework developed by the Indianapolis Museum of Art, that seemed to be a perfect fit for the project.
